Housing Options and How to Apply
Housing options at College Nine include Residence Halls, Apartment Buildings, and the International Living Center.
Some of the most significant and lasting friendships are developed within the residential community during a student's first year at College. Both the Residence Halls and Apartments have unique features designed to assist students in building a community that fosters friendship, personal development, and educational success.
Staffing
A residential life team staffs both locations. Community Advisors (CAs) are undergraduate student leaders who help residents in getting acclimated to UCSC, mediate roommate conflicts and coordinate social, educational, and multicultural programs. Coordinators for Residential Education (CREs) are professional live-in staff members who supervise the RAs and assist residents with personal concerns, judicial matters, and community development. The CREs share a 24-hour duty rotation to respond to any emergency situations. Additionally, each night the College is patrolled by a Community Safety Officer. The Community Safety Officer, who is in radio contact with the University Police and Fire Department, is responsible for maintaining security, responding to noise complaints and lockout requests, and assisting during emergency situations.
