New laundry machines that take payment using a special card were installed in the summer of 2009. Money can be added to these cards online, and at a variety of locations on campus. When I put my card in the laundry machine, it flashes "$1.75". Is this the cost of the wash?A:
What you are seeing is the machine telling you how much value is encoded on the card. The student cards were preloaded with the equivalent of one wash ($1.00) and one dry cycle ($.75). In the "free" mode, value is not deducted from the card. -

There's a small card reader box on the wall in my laundry room, but it isn't plugged in. What's it for?A:
There were a few rooms around campus where a power outlet needed to be installed to connect the Add Value Station box that converts the code users get online to value on the card. These should be connected the week of Sept 8-11. In the mean time, you can add value to your card at the cash machines listed above, or in another laundry room in your facility that has a working box. Q:
Will residents get paper copies of instructions for using the Web Laundry Card system?A:
College housing managers differ on whether paper brochures will be necessary, and some are concerned about sustainability issues around creating and distributing more paper. Please let me know whether you need this to be done ASAP. Another option is to include a link to the Web Services site listed above in your unit's web site, and perhaps include a scan of the Web brochure pdf (attached,) which could be downloaded by residents.Q:
What is the cost of a replacement card at the Web cash Add Value Station?A:
Replacement cards are $2.00 each.Q:
How are card refunds handled?A:
Web Services will continuously supply each University Residential Housing Office with five (5) each no value added Smart Cards with Refund Envelops. Upon refund request by resident, University Residential Office will follow the refund process as specified in the Contract. Web Services will post refund instructional signs in each laundry area.
