Global Leadership and Development (GLAD) is a student-led club offered by the Cocurricular Unit ("the Coco") that provides opportunities for new students to build leadership skills, engage with the College Nine theme of International and Global Perspectives, and work on a final project that impacts others on a global scale. Students in GLAD meet weekly to discuss topics such as identity, culture, intersectionality, and how perspective impacts decision making.  This year, GLAD students worked on a project, assembling and creating WAPIs—water pasteurization indicators. With the help of many other students from throughout the university, GLAD was able to make 240 WAPIs in one evening. These water pasteurization indicators were sent to the maternity ward of Afshar Hospital, which serves communities in the southwest region of Kabul, Afghanistan. GLAD students were able to provide 240 new mothers and families with WAPIs for faster and easier access to clean water.
