About the ILC

The International Living Center (ILC), housed at College Nine and College Ten Apartments, offers a unique living environment fostering understanding, cooperation and friendship among people from different nations, cultures and backgrounds. About half of the residents of this apartment complex are students from the United States and the other half consists of students from various countries around the world. Each apartment is shared by both U.S. students and students from abroad.

Each apartment in the ILC is furnished with dining room table and chairs, a sofa, chairs, small tables, and a lamp in the living room. The kitchen contains a stove and oven, full size refrigerator, a sink and numerous cabinets for storage. Residents are responsible for bringing other kitchen items such as silverware, pots and pans, and general cookware. The bedrooms have an extra long twin mattress bed (80”x36”x6”), desk, chair, two-drawer filing cabinet, dresser, and wardrobe closet for each resident. Residents are encouraged to bring a desk lamp for their bedroom. All bedrooms have a telephone jack and an Ethernet connection for each resident.

The strength and vitality of the International Living Center community is based on consistent participation by all ILC residents. Applicants will be selected based on their willingness to commit to the following:

  • Sharing their culture with others
  • Understanding, appreciating, and respecting the values, cultures and differences of others
  • Actively participating in on ILC club/organization
  • Attending ILC and College Nine sponsored events

All applicants must complete the online UC Santa Cruz Housing Application/Contract to be eligible to live in the ILC. To be considered for placement in the ILC, be sure to select that you are interested in living there on your housing application.
