How are mailboxes assigned and where do I get my mailbox information?

All College Nine students who are living on campus are assigned a mailbox.

Mailboxes are reassigned every year. Both new and continuing students will be sent an email with their mailbox information to their UCSC email account.

Can I get a mailbox If I live off campus?

Yes! If you are living off campus and would like to request a mailbox, please contact the mailroom supervisor.

Where do I pick up my packages?

When you receive a package at your college address, a package slip will be placed in your mailbox. To pick up packages, present this slip and your picture ID during posted open hours only.

Packages are not kept indefinitely. Packages that are not picked up in a timely manner are deemed unclaimed and then returned to sender.

I lost my mailbox combination, what do I do?

It is the students' responsibility to keep track of their mailbox information. Only when absolutely necessary, mailroom staff can look up forgotten or lost information. You will need a picture ID to retrieve this information.

What do I do if my mailbox is broken?

Report the problem right away to the mailroom clerk.

How should my mail be addressed?

Do not use nicknames or pen names. Improperly addressed mail may be refused and returned to sender. Please notify your family and friends.

It says my package has arrived online, but I don't have a slip yet. Where is it?

Different carriers have different tracking methods.

Both UPS and FedEx use tracking numbers and consider the package delivered when a staff member signs for it.

USPS records when a package reaches the nearby distribution center. It may take a few more days for your package to reach the college mailroom.

How do I get my mail forwarded if I am going to be away from UCSC?

Forwarding services are provided for a maximum of 90 days to students who have had a college mailbox and are moving off campus, who are going on EAP, graduating, leaving for the summer, transferring, withdrawing or taking a leave of absence. To activate forwarding service, fill out a forwarding address card and return it to the Academic Advising Office, Social Sciences 2, Room 150. Cards can be obtained from the mailroom or from the Academic Advising Office.

I am enrolled in summer session. How do I get a mailbox for the summer?

Students who are enrolled for summer session may elect to retain their old mailbox through the summer. To request keeping a summer mailbox, fill out the "keep mailbox" section of a forwarding address card and return it to the mailroom or the Academic Advising Office.
