CARING FOR YOUR DOOR ACCESS PROXIMITY CARD

Your student ID card contains a coiled wire that acts as both a receiving and transmitting antenna. The reader contains a transmitter and receiver and generates a low-frequency magnetic field. When the card is brought within proximity of the reader's magnetic field, the voltage to the antenna powers the integrated circuit. This causes the tag to transmit the ID code to the reader. The entire process occurs in less than a quarter second.

  • 1. DO NOT PUNCH HOLES IN YOUR PROXIMITY CARD.
  • 2. Bending, crumpling, or pounding of your proximity card will damage it.
  • 3. Do not put your proximity card in the washing machine.
  • 4. Avoid exposing your card to extreme temperatures, including on the dash or inside of your car.

REPORT LOST CARDS IMMEDIATELY!

It is the cardholder's responsibility to report lost cards immediately to the Housing Office so we may deactivate the card and protect the residents of the building!
