Leadership Opportunities

Student staff members are central to the successful functioning of our college community. Join the College Nine staff! Develop leadership skills, contribute to your community, and share your skills and experience by applying for one of the following positions:

Social Justice and Community Academic Programs Intern

CUIP Internship Position providing leadership in planning and teaching College Nine 2-credit class, facilitating a leadership group, and developing other programs to enhance the college's theme of International and Global Perspectives. For more information contact Wendy Baxter at wbaxter@ucsc.edu

International Living Center Special Programs Intern

This Internship Position providing leadership in planning the International Affairs Group, newsletters, and other special needs of the ILC. For more information contact Mira Hutton at mwhutton@ucsc.edu.

Faculty Initiatives Program Assistant

Assist in the development and implementation of programs that bring together faculty and students from Colleges Nine in meaningful interactions that enhance co-curricular learning related to the college's theme. Plan faculty presentations, field trips and other programs. For more info contact Wendy Baxter at wbaxter@ucsc.edu or 459-3142.

Community Program Assistants (CPAs)

CPAs work with the College Programs Coordinator to plan and implement events, activities, and programs that enhance the community of College Nine and Ten as well as promote our international and social justice themes. CPA's provide leadership to College Nine and Ten organizations, College Night planning, orientation, graduation, and recruitment events. Orientation Leaders (OLs)

OLs are responsible for producing a successful orientation of new College Nine and Ten students in the fall. This team assists several other programs throughout the year, serving as tour guides, leaders within the college community, and resources for the new students. Recruitment takes place in the spring and requires early return for the fall quarter. This is a volunteer position with great perks! Service-Learning Student Assistant

Assist Abbey Asher, the service-learning coordinator for Colleges Nine and Ten. The student will help develop and maintain office organizational systems to facilitate the placement of significant numbers of students in community agencies and schools. The student would also help provide support for Esprit de Corps, the service-learning course and Praxis, the service-learning student organization. Excellent communication and computer skills are required as well as experience with service-learning. 10 hours/wk. Contact Abbey Asher for more info or call 459-1237. Apply in the spring.

Mailroom assistant

Sort & distribute U.S. and intercampus mail; maintain logs of registered, insured and express mail; maintain current records of student addresses; must be able to work a variable schedule between 10am and 2pm for a minimum 2 hour block of time; evening and Saturday morning hours available.

Office Assistant Positions

Available in all college offices. Duties and hours will vary. Watch for posting or talk to any staff member.

Tech Crew

Assist the College staff with setting up events and running any audio/visual equipment needed for programs. The crew will be hired in late spring and early fall quarter. Hours vary - evening and weekends required. Contact Leticia Maldonado at mbilovsk@ucsc.edu
