Academic Advising Hours and Contact

Although occasional meetings or illness may affect our availability, we will try our best to accommodate your advising needs. If you are making a special trip to campus to see an Academic Adviser or if you have specific needs, please check our C9+C10 Advising Hours Calendar or call ahead (831) 459-5034 to confirm that an Academic Adviser is available to see you.  Please plan ahead when meeting an academic and administrative deadline.

When you need to see an adviser, please check-in at the reception window.  As "sister" colleges, our College Nine and College Ten advising staff work collaboratively to serve the advising needs of our students.  During the first week of each quarter advisers will see students on a drop-in basis only.  After the first week of the quarter, advising continues to be available on a drop-in basis and also by appointment.  Drop-in advising is based on advisers' availability and on a first come, first serve basis.  To schedule an appointment, call the Advising Office at (831) 459-5034.

  • Appointments are 30 minute meetings regarding: readmission, academic standing, petitions or exceptions, etc. (no same-day appointments).
  • To make an appointment or for questions about advising contact the front office at (831) 459-5034.
  • Questions can also be emailed to nineadvising@ucsc.edu and an advising staff member will respond within 2-3 business days (please include your name and student identification number in ALL email correspondence).

Maximize your advising experience:

  • Review your student portal including your Academic Advisement Report and Student Advising Summary.
  • Bring a list of questions to help guide your meeting.
  • Meet with your major (or prospective) major/minor adviser for any questions about those requirements.
  • Follow up with your advisers recommendations to utilize other campus resources as needed.
