Become a College Nine and College Ten College Guide!

The College Guide position is a volunteer position that provides a rewarding opportunity for personal and professional growth through training, experiential learning, and engagement with the College Nine and College Ten communities.

College Guides (CGs) are part of a team that works collaboratively throughout Fall Quarter and the academic year to welcome and orient new students to the UC Santa Cruz community. Using your unique experiences and perspectives, College Guides play a key role in planning Fall Orientation and Welcome Week, and support first-year students throughout the academic year as mentors by helping them explore academic life, involvement, the diverse community, and everything that Colleges Nine and Ten and UC Santa Cruz has to offer.

College Guides will gain facilitation, public speaking, team building, and professional skills that will help not only foster their personal growth, but also help create a memorable experience for their group of incoming students. This is a unique volunteer opportunity to join a community of passionate staff and student leaders to form close bonds with a diverse student body, create a welcoming and inclusive community, carry on college traditions, and be a positive influence.
