Join us at the 8th Annual HOPE International Spring Music Festival on Saturday, April 12th from 4-7pm at the Colleges Nine & Ten Multipurpose Room. Live music performances include Bay Area artists, Bandung 55 and Power Struggle, as well as UCSC dance troupe POI and a capella group Isang Himig.

HOPE is an annual international spring music festival that highlights a particular international, social justice issue and raises money for an organization that is effecting positive change. Every year HOPE features a combination of live music, spoken word, dance performance, crafts, food, tabling and opportunities for activism and engagement with the issues.

College Nine students work together as part of the HOPE committee to organize the festival. Students gain leadership skills as they collaboratively plan this large scale event, supported by Colleges Nine and Ten. This year, the planning committee decided to raise awareness about the devastating impact of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, and chose the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) as the benefitting organization. NAFCON is a national multi-issue alliance of Filipino organizations and individuals in the United States serving to protect the rights and welfare of Filipinos by fighting for social, economic, and racial justice and equality. Since Typhoon Haiyan hit, NAFCON has partnered with grassroot organziations, all-volunteer networks, to offer direct relief and rebuilding support to tens of thousands of typhoon-affected families and individuals.
