Throughout the quarter the students and student instructors of CLNI 85 Global Action have been working together to gain awareness upon topics concerning social justice issues, global, and international issues. As their final project, they were given the opportunity to actively apply the learned practical skills they gained from class in order to raise awareness and create funds towards a group of women and boys in a small village located in India. The students were able to use their global awareness and activism to raise the necessary funds for these women in Odisha, India for 8 sewing machines and sewing night classes in order to gain the necessary skills to be able to provide for themselves and further their education.

The final project, “The Samriti-Indian Dance Show” consisted of dance performances of classical Indian Dance pieces, food sales, authentic jewelry sales, and much more in order to attain our goal of $2000. All in all, we were not just able to send out a message through the education the students provided to the audience of the importance of education world-wide, but also, we were  able to raise a total amount of $2600! Having exceeded our goal it was amazing to see the students engage with the project and gaining new perspective and the necessary skills to promote change in the world.
